Grafton
Of all the towns in the Northern Rivers region, Grafton is perhaps the most opulent, with its grandiose 19th century architecture, stately tree lined avenues and boulevards, it is a testament to the wealth and prosperity of the timber industry which once dominated the entire region.
Yet somehow, despite all the stately outward appearances, the city of Grafton manages to retain an intimate country charm and character. The city is planted with over 6000 trees which line the streets and fill the numerous public parks. The biggest of these parks is located on the banks of the Clarence River which makes it a gorgeous place to take a picnic lunch close to all the conveniences of a big city. Ask your motorhome sales representative about the pros and cons of our different models of motorhome and you will learn how our fully equipped kitchen facilities add a whole new dimension to picnics in the park. With your own flushing toilets and running water you have the freedom to go anywhere in absolute comfort and style.
While in Grafton visitors can walk through the town enjoying the lovingly preserved heritage buildings. The Grafton regional gallery in the beautifully restored Prentice House is the place to go for a great bite to eat as well viewing some of the best regional artwork anywhere in Australia. Several of Grafton's historic buildings are protected by the National Trust. A heritage trail has been devised which takes in over 20 historically significant sites which will give you an insight into the colourful history of the town. The trail is best experienced from the comfort of your very own campervan. If you worry about driving a large motorhome why not ask one of our friendly RV sales representatives for advice and tips on coping with a vehicle of this size. You can even take the vehicle for a test drive to make sure you feel confident.
Nymboida
Nymboida is a small village that has a big reputation for having one of Australia's most exciting white water rafting and canoeing river courses. The river is surrounded by rainforest and undisturbed bush land of the rugged and densely forested Nymboi-Binderay National Park. The superb white water conditions are a by-product of the hydroelectric power station at Nymboida. Water is pumped from the Nymboida River and then released into the Goolang Creek which creates the Grade III and IV rapids that are used in state, national and international competitions.
While staying in Nymboida a range of activities are available such as platypus viewing, bush walking, abseiling, trail rides and camping. Visitors to the area can hire equipment at the local Canoe Centre or take a guided rafting tour along the picturesque Nymboida River. For overnight stays in the area, camping and cabin accommodation is available. Once you have purchased your very own motorhome it will not take long for you to realise just how convenient the onboard facilities are. Your helpful campervan sales person can give you a demonstration of all the cooking and storage facilities at your disposal.
Diggers Camp
Nestled in between the dense forest of the Yuraygir National Park and quiet golden sandy beaches, Diggers Camp is a popular spot for families for the tidal lagoon, calm surf, quiet lifestyle and beautiful scenery. Visitors are also drawn here for the range of great fishing spots, bushwalking tracks, and the fantastic snorkeling and swimming conditions. The beaches to the north and south of Diggers Camp are accessible by 4WD.
The coastal walk between Boorkoom campground and Wilsons headland has a number of lookouts and boardwalks along the way. The picnic areas at both ends provide a scenic shady area for a relaxing lunch by the seaside. Wilsons Headland also appeals to surfers because of the excellent left hand surf break.
Halfway Creek
Approximately half way from Grafton to Woolgoolga the Pacific Highway crosses through this region of State Forest and National Park. With the Great Dividing Range on one side and the sparkling coastline on the other this stretch of highway has particularly diverse scenery. The fertile land of this region has resulted in a thriving horticulture industry with many fruits, vegetables and flowers successfully grown here in abundance. All throughout this region you will find roadside stalls selling the local produce such as grapes, bananas, blueberries, avocados, raspberries and apples just to name a few. Gourmet food lovers will absolutely love the range of fresh local produce on offer. What better way to enjoy the fruit of the land than in the comfort of your stylish and comfortable motorhome?
